The Karnataka Management Aptitude Test is conducted by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA). The KMAT exam 2012 will be conducted in a simple paper-pencil pattern and this exam is mainly for students who wish to seek admission in the institutes of Karnataka that offer MCA and MBA courses.
KPPGCA is a body of more than 169 self financing universities as well as AICTE approved colleges. This body took the decision of conducting the KMAT 2012, a common entrance test for allowing students to take admission in MCA, PGDBM and MBA programs. This entrance test is being conducted since last 9 years by the association. The exam would be held in over 12 centers of Karnataka and this test can be taken up by students from all across the globe. Last year, around 9500 students had appeared for the test and on the basis of ranking, around 4000 candidates were given admissions in various colleges. This year, there is availability of 8000 seats for MBA and around 4000 seats for the MCA.
Eligibility criteria for KMAT 2012
Candidates who wish to apply for the exam should hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline such as computers, commerce, humanities and science from a recognized university. They should secure an aggregate of 50 percent.
Paper pattern of KMAT 2012
• There is difference in the KMAT paper pattern on the basis of the paper that is chosen. There are two different patterns for the exam. One is for the combined paper of MCA and MBA and other is for MBA paper. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. There are three sections in an MBA paper namely language comprehension, basic aptitude and mathematical skills. There are total 120 questions with each section having 40 questions respectively. • The combined paper of MCA and MBA has 4 sections namely mathematical skills, logical reasoning, language skills and basic aptitude. There are total 160 questions with 40 questions in every section.
